Eugenia Cheng
Founder | Principal | BA (Hons) MSc MSLL
Born and raised in Taipei and Hong Kong, Eugenia moved to London, where she studied Art and Design Foundation Studies at Loughborough University. She studied under Mr. Peter Stickland at Chelsea College of Art and Design, where she graduated with a BA (Hons) in Interior & Spatial Design, followed by a MSc Light and Lighting Design from The Bartlett UCL., under Dr. Kevin Mansfield's supervision.
Prior to the founding of LightOrigin Studio, Eugenia worked at award-winning lighting design firms in London and in Hong Kong, completing projects in China, Europe, Hong Kong, Macau, South East Asia and South Korea. She has also worked alongside international architectural firms and acclaimed interior design studios.
With over 17 years of experience in the architectural lighting industry, her universal portfolio includes five-star hospitality hotels, resorts, restaurants, high-end private residential properties, commercial developments, and retail.
Eugenia's lighting design philosophy is creating space with a balance of light, colour and shadow. Eugenia is a recipient of Lighting 40under40 2022, a member of the CIBSE SLL, and a past nominee for Achievement in Lighting for The Women in Lighting awards.
PEOPLE
Ivan Zhang
Senior Associate | BSc MSc MSc
Ivan obtained his BSc in Optical Information Science & Technology, and MSc in Optics at South China University of Technology, followed by MSc Technology Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
As Senior Associate Designer, Ivan is responsible for developing design concepts, lighting drawing and specification, project and site coordinations with suppliers and project team.
Ivan started his career as a project officer at the Optics and Opto-Mechatronics Technology Centre in Hong Kong Productivity Council. With a very solid education background, he has developed sophisticated project management skills and has been involved in many different aspects of the lighting industry - from concept, product design to manufacturing.
Prior to joining LightOrigin Studio, Ivan has worked as lighting designer at several award-wining international lighting design firms with many high profile commercial developments projects under his belt.
With over 7 years of architectural lighting design, Ivan has extensive interior, facade and landscape lighting design experience.
Oliver Cruz
CAD Technician
With over a decade of cad design experience, Oliver is responsible for all cad documentations and productions.
Renee Chow
Designer | BA(Hons)
Raised in Hong Kong, Renee completed her BA (Hons) Interior Design degree from the University of Edinburgh.
With a background in Interior Design, Renee believes the juxtaposition between light and shadows is inherent in constructing spatial experiences.
Started as an intern in LightOrigin Studio allows her to further explore the interaction between light and form of a space.
Renee has worked closely with the senior team on developing design concepts and is responsible for drawing documentations, specification production and site coordinations.
Poe
Chief Morale Officer
Raised in Hong Kong, Poe completed his diploma at the Paws Academy Hong Kong.
True to his English heritage, Poe is a gentlemen at heart with a great sense of humour. His friendly demeanour and "can do" attitude makes him a perfect fit for his job title.
Poe is very caring and proactive; he is always the first to approach (with eyes of concerns) at the opening sound of cookie or popcorn packets, and will, without being asked, demonstrate that with great tricks comes great treats.
"Sharing is caring" is his motto.
His daily handshakes and high-fives makes everyone smile and ensures everyone starts the day with positive vibes.
